Gondwana Game Reserve Wedding

Gondwana Game Reserve Wedding with stunning sunset and beautiful couple.

What an opportunity to take Luke & Kathryn’s Gondwana Game Reserve wedding photos!  Not only are these two people, the most kindest of people, but it was with a sense of awe that I surveyed this amazingly beautiful Mossel Bay wedding venue’s scenery.  I’m a nature person and breathing in the fresh, morning air, encountering the Big 5, having amazing views and landscapes and food and atmosphere – the pro’s of this Garden Route wedding venue is just endless.  Needless to say, this game reserve is one of my favourite places to capture a Mosselbay Wedding!

The couple decided to tie the knot in South Africa rather than to get married in the UK (where they reside), they chose to have their wedding in a uniquely African setting. With the most spectacular views from their ceremony area, and under the hot African sun (yes it was hot!), they tied the knot in a heartfelt and dear ceremony.  I must just add that this was the first time ever that I caused the ceremony to halt when Gavin (the officiant) thought I was a wild lion hiding behind the bushes!

Having captured many Garden Route Weddings, and growing up along the Garden Route myself, I truly enjoy being able to intertwine the couple’s photos with the outdoor splendour of this gorgeous area. Gondwana Game Lodge is situated over 11,000 hectares and so there were an abundance of different natural elements to play with during the shoot. I captured images of Luke & Kathryn embracing on the rolling hills and grassland, before moving into the more intimate photos interweaved among the field flowers with a background of the absolutely gorgeous light of the setting sun.

Once back at the reception it was party time with a full-on spit braai, good old South African beer and tasty finger-dishes to go round.  The reception venue is set overlooking the rolling hills with the sunset and the guests were treated to wild elephants grazing through the hills.  The couple had the most original ideas for gifts, kid’s games and even just little things like there 10 yearlong love story.

The night was complete with loads of dancing and festivity, amongst much hilarity, as both the garter and bouquet were tossed through the air and feistily caught by friends of the bride and groom.  Thank you so much Luke & Kathryn for choosing me to be your wedding photographer and to make me part of your Gondwana Game Reserve Wedding.
