Jon & Tor,
Jon & Tor came all the way from the UK to have a Botlierskop Game Reserve Wedding. The couple visited friends in the Garden Route area a few years prior to their wedding and visit the luxury game reserve then. They fell in love with the African feel of this Garden Route wedding venue and knew that this will be the very place where they want to say their ‘I do’s’.
The couple met while Tor was an air hostess and Jon a rugby player in Dubai. Together, they have travelled the globe with their fun, easy going manner. For their wedding, they wanted to treat their guests to a big 5 game drive and picnic. Unfortunately, the weather did not play along. It was pouring down for the picnic. This did not however dampen the spirits at all and with a little help of some trusted South African sherry, the cold and wet was a distance thought.
The weather improved, and it was all clear skies for their beautiful ceremony that took place overlooking the famous Botlierskop hill and river. The very brave bride had to do a river crossing on a pulley raft, in her wedding dress(!), to get to the ceremony.
Mid way through the creative portrait shoot, a pregnant rhino and her 3-year-old son arrived. A couple of tense moments followed, but the pair finally moved on. The bride’s father could not make it to the wedding due to a sudden illness and her mother stepped in for the father-daughter dance while her father was watching over skype – everyone was in tears!
Ps – what an amazing venue! Luxury tented accommodation, beautiful African food like crocodile and Springbok. An atmosphere that deeply resonate the African bush with views of giraffe and elephants gazing lazily in the afternoon sun. I can highly recommend a Botlierskop Game Reserve Wedding.
