Wow, where do I start with this wedding. What an experience! On my flight from Nairobi, the pilot took a wee bit of detour to show us Mount Kilimanjaro from the air. IT WAS AMAZING. I may or may not have shed a tear. ? It was the most incredible sight. Covered with snow and a blanket of clouds, it truly is indiscernible.
I have done a lot of weddings in Africa and each country and wedding comes with its own challenges. Luc and Andrea’s Tanzania wedding is high up there in terms of challenges. The couple reside in Canada and opted to climb Kilimanjaro before their wedding at the Ngorongoro crater. When they finally arrived to Tanzania after a few days of delay in Amsterdam, they discovered that all of their baggage was gone! The local traveling company, Easy Travel really came to the rescue with providing all the gear, clothes and basically everything else they needed to climb the mountain.
A few day later, I arrived for their Tanzania wedding and my bags were gone! Fortunately, I had my cameras and most of my gear on me. After buying some essentials at ridiculous tourist prices, my guide and I started our 4-hour long trip to Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge.
I met Luc and Andrea the night before their wedding and what an amazing couple. So patient, kind and understanding! The next morning, we started at 5am and left for the Ngorongoro crater tour. We did some of their couple portrait photos overlooking the beautiful crater after which the couple had a beautiful lunch picnic.
Their wedding ceremony was held to the sound of a Masai choir chanting away in the background. It was really interesting to view their war cries and challenges. Thereafter, the couple enjoyed a private fine dining experience. As their last tourist activity in Tanzania, the couple visited a Tanzanite museum which is very fitting as they met underground in a mine.
Luc and Andrea, thank you so much for choosing me as your Tanzania wedding photographer. It was an incredible experience and I am grateful to have been part of your most special day.
