In 2017, the World Adventure Racing qualifying event was held in Plettenberg Bay Garden Route. I was commissioned by local NGO, Greensport to take photos of the participants for printed and online marketing purposes. I have done a good few adventure racing events over the years and know the logistical strain it takes to really take good photos of these amazing athletes. It is not easy. One must run with, climb with, adapt, follow and anticipate with split second decisions. The logistical strain of a shoot of this magnitude is also tiring as the teams go from abseiling, canoeing on both rivers and the open ocean, to hiking and mountain biking in a day – for roughly 4 days!
